Saori Fotenos is a Japanese-Brazilian technologist interested in its applications in education. She has run a computerschool for disadvantaged inner-city girls, consulted and published on educational technology, and most recently atReuters, managed projects for delivering real time financial
data and for publishing multimedia news stories over the Internet. Saori has a BS in Computer Science from Brown University and is currently a Reuters Digital Vision Fellow at Stanford University.
Saori's latest project is Vamos Blogar (Let's Blog): Computing and Communication Skills for Children in Favelas.Vamos Blogar is a literacy curriculum based on multimediaweblogs. Using it, milions of urban children in Brazil can build on what they know to build up the confidence andemployment skills they lack.
