David Barnard is the Executive Director of the Southern African Non-Governmental Organisation Network (SANGONeT). He is an expert in the political and socio-economic scenarios influencing the development of Southern Africa (14 SADC countries), the role and involvement of the international development and funding community in Southern Africa, role and involvement of the corporate sector in development issues, and the role and contribution of information and IT in support of development issues.

David was previously a Manager for the Programme for Development Research (PRODDER) at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC). He has extensively published and presented around issues surrounding development in Africa and serves on President Mbeki’s National Commission on the Information Society for Development.
