Vote

The polls have closed!

The 21 Featured Projects have been announced! This is an archive of the original voting guidelines and instructions for N2Y2's Technology Innovation vote.

First off, thanks for playing. This has been a huge experiment on our part and not, I'll be honest, without some internal angst and turmoil. But you all worked hard in getting the word out and, as a result, we have over 150 projects represented in the first TechSoup NetSquared Innovation Awards.

We were having technical difficulties which are mostly resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience. As a result, we have extended the deadline for voting to Monday April 16th at 5pm PDT.

Already logged in and ready to vote? If you've just registered, you must follow the directions in the email from net2@techsoup.org before you can vote.

How to Vote

Now, for some formal rules...
  • You must be a registered NetSquared user to vote. If you are not registered, please register now.
  • You must be logged in to vote.
  • Each user must vote for a minimum of 5 projects and a maximum of 10 projects. You must vote for at least 5 different projects for your ballot to be counted. Ballots with multiple votes for the same project will be discarded.
  • Each registered user can only vote once. You can update your ballot anytime before the final deadline - note this has changed from Saturday, April 14th at 12 noon PDT to MONDAY, APRIL 16th, at 5pm PDT!
  • Voting Guidelines

We seek to present featured projects that can demonstrate the following attributes (though we understand that different projects will have different emphases and strengths). We ask you to keep these criteria in mind to choose projects that:

    • Use the power of community and social networks to create change
    • Use existing, or newly developed social web technology tools for social impact
    • Have a plausible financial model
    • Have a clear way to measure success
    • Exhibit extraordinary leadership, passion and resourcefulness
    • Exhibit a passion for social change

Please take some time to review project proposals and choose at least 5 projects that exhibit excellence in these areas.

    Voting Instructions

    1. If you have not already done so, register on the NetSquared site
    2. Review the projects using the downloadable voting booklet or by sorting through projects online
    3. Choose your top 5 favorite projects and make a note of them so you can quickly select them at the ballot
    4. If you are registered but not currently logged in, then login
    5. Go to your ballot
    6. Select your 1st choice from the drop down menu listing all projects
    7. Repeat with your 2nd - 5th choices. YOU MUST CHOOSE AT LEAST 5 DIFFERENT projects in order for your ballot to be counted. All choices are counted equally.
    8. If you have additional favorites, feel free to choose up to 10 projects.
    9. Click "Save"

You're done! Please note that all choices are weighted equally (e.g. your first choice and 10th choice have equal value). Also note that you can return to your ballot any time during voting week and add to/change your picks. Only your final ballot will be counted.

Remember to come back on April 18th to see which 20 projects will be featured at the N2Y2 Conference and compete for the chance to win the first ever NetSquared Technology Innovation Award!

A note from the NetSquared team

We hunkered down here in the World HQ to figure out the best way to represent these projects. We wanted it to be fair, make it easy to be an informed voter, and showcase the projects in ways that really highlight their impact potential. We had lots of glorious ideas, some of which go into the queue for next year. This year we need to emphasize simplicity-- for voters, and for us. Here's the drill: You have a variety of ways to look through the projects - a nice downloadable guide, various methods of sorting and filtering the projects along with quick descriptions so you can get the impact these folks are trying to make. Over the last week, we've been asking you all for your slates. You can look here to see which projects really appeal to other NetSquared community members and our N2Y2 Advocates. Now go vote. And help get the word out to your networks.
