Tole-rants Connect

Challenges Entered:
60 Seconds of Hope

Tole-rants is an international multimedia project that harvests the communication of inspiring and creative  solutions to social problems. It empowers anyone to record and share a 60 second video of hope in the form of a constructive rant (a tole-rant) that points to a solution. Videos are shared and voted on by the public.

SeeClickFix: report non-emergency local problems and collaborate to solve them

Challenges Entered:

SeeClickFix is a free mobile phone and web tool that allows citizens to report and document non-emergency issues to communicate them to those accountable for the public space. Issues that are reported are recorded on a map on the web for everyone to see and interact with. Anyone can receive email alerts on the issues based on a filter by geographical area and keyword.

Take a government run 3-1-1 system, put it on the web and democratize it. Put the issues on the map and allow the community to manage it like Wikipedia. Now you have a sense of what SeeClickFix can do.

An Example Story

Face the Change

The goal of Face the Change is to mobilize support to tackle climate change by highlighting its social impacts. By putting a human face on global warming, we aim to elevate the current debate on science and energy policy to one that includes key human rights issues of natural disasters and forced migration. The web-based platform will primarily use video and other multimedia to document the current and future impacts and facilitate a global dialogue with the intention of shaping policy.

Seafood Watch Mobile App

Challenges Entered:
Our Seafood Watch iPhone/iPod touch application allows users to make sustainable seafood choices quickly and easily—whether they’re eating at their favorite restaurant or shopping for dinner.  We are looking to port the application to other platforms, including  Blackberry and  Android, find innovative ways to leverage our seafood database and explore ways in which users can contribute to the database.
