Freedom Fone is a free open source software tool that can be used to build and update a dial-up information service in any language. Its easy to use interface lowers the barriers to using Interactive Voice Response for outreach. Freedom Fone empowers non-technical organizations to build automated information services that are available to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Pre-recorded audio files are stored by Freedom Fone in a Content Management System. This is updated through a simple to use browser interface. Callers then phone in to listen to the audio options available to them.

Currently, there are two parts to SexINFO. One is a static menu of Questions and Answers that can be accessed by texting SEXINFO to 61827 or 917.957.4280 (Metro PCS users). Common questions such as, "What should I do if the condom broke?" or “What if I'm not sure I want to have sex?" are answered in 160 character format with some basic information and two local clinic/testing sites. There is a companion website to the mobile platform at www.sextextsf.org. The second part is a WAP site viewable from mobile phones at m.sextext.orgFrom usability testing, we realized that more and more youth are accessing the Internet via their mobile phones, and that youth are downloading ringtones and wallpaper to customize their user experience. We are looking to expand the service and make it more engaging to utilize the fact that mobile phones are becoming ubiquitous among urban youth at risk for STDs, including HIV.

The core idea behind Your Mapper is to create an easy way to make public information that has long been locked up in internal government databases, and present it to the world in a way that is visually appealing, easy to understand, and local.Examples of these kinds of datasets would be crime, restaurant health reviews, traffic accidents, building permits, sex offender registries, property values, and pollution sources, or anything that can be linked to a physical address or location. Because each government office stores each of theses items internally in very different formats, it would take too many resources to create a relationship with these local agencies and obtain data dumps on a regular basis. Your Mapper empowers concerned citizens to collect and share this information, since they know their town or city and have a good idea of what others living there would want to see made public.I do not believe that altruism alone is enough to encourage local Mappers to load and maintain quality local data, so Your Mapper actually compensates the Mappers based on the amount of website advertising and embedded map revenue generated that is specifically related to their maps. This would empower the Mappers to become "local experts," much like Google's Knol project and Helium.com does.
