MyPacis.eu: mashup for freedom of speech, multilingualism and Peace in Europe
The Idea:
What will change in the world because this Project happens?
Freedom of speech, multilingualism and Peace will be even stronger in Europe. With MyPacis.eu our focus is on bringing European Union member Countries closer to non EU members (yet) and defend freedom of expression and speech where it still has to reach high standards. Our mashup makes easier to add/comment/share/rate news important for civil society, but also for the personal development of Europeans.
On a global level, we launched MyPacis.com which is a blogging platform available in many languages, such as Arabic, Farsi, Russian, etc.
What information will people interact with to make this change?
News they submit, divided by category, plus news from mainstream and independent media, syndacted through RSS. Also, multimedia assets such as podcasts, images, videos, etc. blended with RSS mixers based on tags.
We are compiling a list of media offering relevant news. The list provided in relevant box is just to give an idea. For each European Country we aim to have between 3 and 10 feeds, plus news posted by users (likely on a Pligg-powered subdomain of MyPacis.eu) and international news from European Union, Council of Europe, Economists etc. It is very important to cover all European countries at least in English and their own national language(s). Also German and Russian are key languages for some areas in Europe where importance of freedom of speech need to be emphasized.
What else have you done in this Cause Area?
So far, we build a European Social Network which allows members to get in touch with friends in their travel destinations, help each other to learn new languages, blog about what they care, post pictures, comments, etc. in each profiles and multimedia collection.
We leverage MyPacis.eu existing platform to make our mashup more visible and attractive, because part of a rich Web 2.0 offer.
