Involver: How Nonprofits Can Create Video Campaigns for Social Networks.
Youth may enter this site angry or depressed but they will leave feeling great because it will be the only site on the web that only has images, photos, videos and stories that are positive and uplifting. The web is the one place where you can abandond the "bleeds it leads" mentality and be successful at attracting millions of viewers or vistors.
After youth experience this site they will be more constructive and less destructive. Violence will decline and caring will increase. Today's young will grow to be the empathic adults of tomorrow and that will change the world.
Youth and their friends and family will simply visit prettypeople.com and read, watch and listen to the good things in life. The site will be rich with content mashed up from the web of only subjects, topics, images, etc. that evoke positive emotional responses. The whole will be greater than the sum its part. You know what that feels like if you have ever been to a club and the DJ played five of your favorite songs in a row. That is the "intangable-tangable" because that good feeling changes something that is real; it can be felt and measured (i.e., heart rate, brain activity, etc.). That leads to shifts in attitude which leads to shifts in behavor towards others. Youth who feel great, tend to not be the ones who cause pain. In fact they become positive change agents inspiring their peers and their entire community. What parent wouldn't gush about her empathic child?
To sum up:
Who: youth
What: prettypeople.com mashed up with content that evoke positive emotional responses so that today's youth will grow to be the empathic adults of tomorrow and thus change the world.
When: as soon as I garner the money and support
Why: Because youth who feel great, tend to not be the ones who cause pain. In fact they become positive change agents inspiring their peers and their entire community.
I studied, listened to and worked with youth so that I understand their needs and how not meeting those needs results in dashed hopes and destructive behavior. I sit on the San Francisco Unified School district's - School to Career Board.
I also registered the URL and have turned down several offers to sell so that I can see this through. The site is not set up - it has to debut with much fanfare.
