The Goldman Prize celebrates things we love: do-gooders, web mashups, and mapping

If you know NetSquared...

(which I assume you do, even if only a little bit, as you're reading our blog), you know that we're big suckers for do-gooders, web mashups, and mapping (a technology that dominated last year's Mashup Challenge). It is because of our admiration for thi

s combination of awesomeness that it is hard for us to resist bringing attention to this years' Goldman Environmental Prize, as this year's winners - on top of receiving the award and a substantial cash prize - had their causes incorporated into a Google Earth Outreach-sponsored tour.

So do-gooders achieve doing-good, they are awarded some cash for their efforts (by way of what is considered to be the "Green Nobel") and they benefit from being incorporated in a mashed-up Google Earth tour narrated to you by — have I mentioned this yet? — the Sundance Kid himself, Robert Redford.

This is essentially a NetSquared-style dream-come-true.
