I am putting the finishing touches on the conclusion of the UCC case study / potential strategy suggestions. I've been fortunate to receive an overwhelming amount of feedback thus far via email, Facebook, Twitter and the comment sections of the various posts. Many thanks to those who have generously provided insight via these avenues.
A number of people in contact have noted religious-related iPhone applications, which I found fascinating, and will be touched upon a bit in my final assessment. I found the following particularly compelling, though it doesn't necessarily fit into my over-all conclusion:
YouVersion features an extremely well-reviewed free Bible, which features various versions and translations of the Bible, and the ability to share perspective, thoughts, and commentary with fellow users. This is a rather epic application. It's been around for a while now, and it's not particularly relevant regarding suggestions for the church as a whole, but it's a great example of what versatility can be created by way of topical applications (perhaps for mobile Bible study groups, or congregational book groups in general).
Further, if you don't want to take my word on that one, Free Christian Resources has gone through the effort of judging "The 11 best free iPhone bibles."
What's also interesting is Today Inter Faith, a calendar that highlights various dates of religious importance.
Ideally, I would love to see a shared faith calander work towards bringing various community groups from different faiths working on similar issues together for service opportunities. Generally, I'd love to see applications that generally work in favor of Interfaith gathering. Perhaps this is something that the IFYC can and will work towards (hint hint).
Any thoughts on the other applications floating around out there?
