Last Saturday, Sept the 4th the Local Philanthropy Workshop in Odorhei (Romania) has oficially came to an end.
The event brought together a small group of NGO leaders and IT&C specialists actively engaged and committed to helping NGOs leverage technologies towards their mission-based activities.
The focus of the workshop was two-fold. The first focus was a hands-on educational component focused on providing resources and tools while focusing on learning systems and methods that work in the Romanian context to build a base of local donors. The second component of the event focused on "Practice" via peer-to-peer learning. Organized by TechSoup, the "Practice" sessions brought together a small group of IT&C specialists who worked closely with participating NGO leaders to address issues and opportunities through the lens of appropriate technology.
In the videos posted below IT participants share their reflections from the Workshop.

I hope that NGO's have
I hope that NGO's have learner something at Odorhei about IT technologies and how they could use them in their philanthropy work. The big problem with these NGO's is the lack of funds. They won't have the budgets for expensive IT technologies but from some open source ones. They barely have the IT required hardware infrastructure. The videos is not presenting what software have they learn about at Odorhei but I really hope that is a freeware or a cheap one, suitable for their low budgets, cercei argint remarked.
