SPECIFIC NEEDS OF AMISPROJECT

Every project relies on some source of funding to enable a smooth take off and  AMIS-CAMEROON is no exception. We think it is impotant to  describe how  any incoming  funds shall be used to address our specific needs.

The whole objective of AMIS-CAMEROON is to give farmers and consumers educative information that enables them to arrive informed decisions that affect their livelihoods in positive ways. Given funds, we shall be able to purchase bulk SMS, reach out to farmers & consumers, sponsor the activities of agricultural technicians and promote research by our soft ware developers and IT department. Food processing engineers shall also be motivated to visit these isolated rural regions and share with them techniques of food conservation that would help them preserve their harvests even in times when the demand is low.Our Team of dedicated volunteers shall  need more than just pen and paper to manually record data from farmers. They should be able to communicate their electronic date directly to   AMIS-CAMEROON offices so that these new comers into our community shall benefit almost immediately from the next available agricultural information via SMS.For this to be possible we need to know and teach these volunteers how to manage information processing hardware.

We do not own or run internet and computer training prgrams. Our volunteers should be able to get such training from several privately owned agencies. This will enable them become better managers of information , especially as our farmers' base is  subject to grow as we advertise our activities. We shall be glad to receive suggestions on how to go about meeting these challenges   that come with managing massive information and data.We in turn shall be glad to share same with our volunteers.

So  what happens if AMIS-CAMEROON operates without the required enabling conditions such as a physical  site, regional ofices, storage facilities for perishables and even emergency funds to help farmers who couldnt avert disaster to their crops? Then the whole purpose of the AMIS-CAMEROON initiative shall cease to have any meaning. We know that it is incumbent for State instutions in Cameroon to support our initiative, but we cannot count on them alone for this to happen.  Aquiring our own facilities through sponsorship   and donoations shall give us possibilities to create even more opportunities for employment, ensure food security and reduce poverty levels. The leverage offered by the moral, financial and other types of support shall provide for us the enabling conditions to kick off and succeed as a group of devoted persons who believe in a cause that is both genuine and noble.

Sometimes, it shall be necessary for AMIS-CAMEROON to transport   farmers' products  to markets. When   farm to market roads deteriorate in the rainy season, both consumers and farmers suffer as a result of exploitative transportation charges. Failure to transport   perishables  to meet the demand of consumers shall certainly result in dumping and loss of investment for the farmers. If AMIS-CAMEROON could    secure the means to purchase all terrain vehicles to help out in such extreme cases in return of token charges that fuel and maintain these vehicles, then such activities shall be beneficial for the whole community.

Because we put the interest of the farmers at the fore, we believe it is necessary to go to any lengths to help them realise their potentials. AMIS-CAMEROON  believes farmers have that spark to succeed, and we want to be there to light it for them.
