WHY CAMEROON?

Mission:

Our mission at AMIS-CAMEROON is to inform and connect actors with capacity and needs. We believe that an informed community would make wise decisions based on their knowledge of where to sell and where to buy.

Why Cameroon?

More than 70% of the Cameroonian populace practice agriculture for a livelihood. It is regrettable that these people dont have access to internet facilities that would otherwise increase their interaction with market bases and get information to carry out responsible farming. This situation often brings about  loss of investments  due to  ignorant practices that destroy the ecosystems , and the visible results are  lean harvests that keeps farmers ever poor.

We at AMIS-CAMEROON   are confident that by  delivering this vital information to millions of mobile phones and thus educate the farmers and consumers about practices that are mutually beneficial and friendly to the environment, we shall help the  FARMERS in their fight against poverty, hunger and uneven distribution of food across the entire Nation of Cameroon.

What We shall do

The principal objective of AMIS-CAMEROON is to connect farmers directly to available markets and consumers via instant SMS messaging. Farmers and consumers shall receive information relating to their expressed needs.   AMIS-CAMEROON shall get information from public authorities and stakeholders within, but not limited to the agricultural sector, register consumer preferences and needs and share this information via SMS to individuals and communities subscribed to the AMIS-CAMEROON SMS network.

Furthermore, we shall sensitize and encourage farmers to work together , share information freely so that other farming communities can benefit from the stock of experiences we shall document for posterity.

 Collaboration with Academia

We shall work actively with the University of Agricluture based in Cameroon. Before now, this community of students have not been encouraged to even carry out field studies within these rural farming communities to give them advice on modern farming practices that yield benefits.  As products from Institutions of Higher Learning, we recognize the importance of using students to constantly update farmers with strategies that pay off.
