Net Tuesdays or Net2 Local gatherings provide a chance to connect locally with all those interested in the intersection of social technologies and social change. There are new groups forming every week: Join in!
Every month, the NetSquared Community comes together offline at Net Tuesday events around the world to mix, swap stories and ideas, build new relationships, and collaborate to help the local community. Our local organizers are volunteers dedicated to helping create local opportunities for learning, sharing and using technology to make a difference. In this Organizer Spotlight series we bring you interviews with organizers from around the world.

Product Designer. Art maker. Community + communication obsessed.
Three months ago I began a consulting practice that focuses on the intersection of product design, community building and social media. I'm working with all kinds of different folks bringing new products and experiences to market and having a fantastic time.
Additionally, since I'm blessed to live at the edge of the Pacific ocean, every day you can bet my toes will be in that water.
The appeal is the beautiful simplicity of being directly helpful to social change organizations by asking what would be helpful, and then providing that free of charge. The gift economy aspect of the Net Tuesday enterprise delights me. And I'm really looking forward to getting to know people at the various organizations. Communing with like-minded folks keeps me inspired.
I've been co-organizing with Elia Varela-Serra and it's been a great experience so far. Between the two of us, we've set up a SF Net Tuesday presence on Ning, Upcoming, Facebook, flickr, twitter and are putting time into developing community in all those places.
To keep it simple: ask people what they need and move forward from there. That's how I plan to develop the event agendas for upcoming events.
We are living and breathing innovations in social web tech every day in the Bay Area. The most challenging part is staying on top of everything new and understanding how the various pieces fit together in relation to one another.
Some of the big social media themese are listening to what's being said about your organization, talking directly with constituents and customers, energizing advocates, meeting support needs, embracing feedback and suggestions to guide product direction, helping people create communities and self-organize on the fly. There are barcamps, meetups, tweetups, parties and conferences on these themes and more every day of the week!
The possibilities are wide open and I wouldn't want to prescribe a plan in advance. I think we'll find the evolution through listening to the community, being responsive and flexible.
Understanding oneself is the best starting point for doing any type of transformation work in the world.
I recently saw David Byrne play at the Greek theatre. It was such an amazing show. It got me headed back through old Talking Heads and Brian Eno. Otherwise Pandora does the trick for music station of the day.
