When starting new partnerships or new programs, it's common to do an inventory of the personnel, skills, knowledge, capacity, budget and other factors that can influence the ease of getting started and the obstacles to success.  A similar inventory, or health check, is often done when groups want to get started with social media.  This health check looks to see what kind of experience people already have with the tools, what the organization or group's current position is towards using new technologies, and so on.  Many consultants or third parties conduct health checks like this before diving into a project with an organization so they know how much to prepare and where to start.  These surveys are the topic of this month's Net2 Think Tank topic!

What are the most important questions to ask before starting a social media project?

Topic:

What are the most important questions to ask in a "health check" survey before starting your next social media project and what tools or methods work best in collecting suvey results?

Is it important to know how long someone's used a tool, or how they use it, or maybe why they use it? What about personal versus professional use of tools? Are there certain tools or types of platforms that are easier for those new to social media to start with?

Survey!

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to include a survey in a Net2 Think Tank about surveys.   Here's a quick poll about some of the leading survey tools; will be interesting to see which ones are most popular - I'll include the results in the round-up post on the 28th.
