TechSoup Webinar: Disaster Planning, 2-Part Series

This two-part webinar series from TechSoup.org focuses on organization's disaster planning.   Details on each one are below:

Disaster Planning: What Organizations Need to Know

Does your organization have a plan to keep your technology, data, and assets protected in the event of an emergency or disaster? Join TechSoup's Becky Wiegand as she interviews nonprofit tech expert Chris Shipley from Nutmeg Consulting and Elliot Harmon, TechSoup staff writer and editor of our new book, The Resilient Organization: A Guide for Disaster Planning and Recovery. We'll also be joined by Michelle Baldwin, Executive Director of Volunteers in Service to Others, which runs the Cooke County emergency food bank. They experienced a flood two years ago and she'll be offering advice for other nonprofits trying to plan ahead.

We'll discuss the ins and outs of getting your organization in tip-top shape before a disaster or crisis happens. We'll review best practices, tips, and resources for developing and implementing a disaster preparedness plan for technology at your organization that will help you not only when a crisis hits — but every day with a more streamlined, efficient workplace. Join us for the first webinar in this two-part series.

Disaster Planning: Backup, Backup, Backup

At TechSoup, we believe that when it comes to maintaining continuity of your organization's services, backup systems are essential to following the Boy Scout's golden rule to "always be prepared." Beyond major natural disasters, a variety of regional, local, and office-centered emergencies might compromise your ability to get work done and continue conducting business as usual for your supporters, clients, users, and community.

In this free TechSoup Talks! webinar, TechSoup's Becky Wiegand will interview Nutmeg Consulting's Chris Shipley and TechSoup's Kevin Lo about the different types of backup options including hardware, portable devices, and hosted services. This will be an introduction to backup systems for emergency planning and won't cover in-depth evaluations of specific services or tools. While we'll always recommend having a backup for your backup, this discussion will review the different options so you can decide what types might best serve your organization's needs and help you recover from any type of disaster however big or small that might come your way. Join us for the second webinar, in this two-part series.
