USAID Challenge lets you vote!

usaid challenge netsquared logoSubmissions are still coming in to the USAID Project Gallery, and the deadline to submit is this Friday, December 5, so get your idea in now!

Monday morning, voting begins and you'll be able to help pick the top 15 projects to move on in the USAID Development 2.0 Challenge.

Why vote?

The voting process is simple, interactive and fun.  Plus, your voices together are better than ours alone, and voting in the USAID Challenge Community Vote will help select the very best 15 projects to move on to the panel of judges.

Voting begins on Monday, December 8, and closes on Friday, December 12.   That's just one week of voting, so we hope you'll get the word out to friends and colleagues to help support the projects you care about.

Information about how to vote and how to spread the word will be posted on Monday morning so you can dive in right away. The 15 project finalists will be announced Monday, December 15!

What's the USAID Challenge ?

Mobile technology - everything from inventive applications for smartphones to simple text messaging - has become commonplace in the developing world. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. government agency that delivers economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide on behalf of the American people, in partnership with NetSquared, challenges you to explore mobile technology's potential in areas such as health, banking, education, agricultural trade, and other pressing development issues.

Through a NetSquared community vote, 15 finalists will be chosen. A panel of judges, selected by USAID, will select the winners on January 15, 2009. The first place winner will receive a grant of $10,000, the two runner-ups will receive grants of $5,000 each. All three winners will have the opportunity to present their ideas to senior USAID officials, experts, and the public in Washington D.C.
