The month of October plays host to the DonorsChoose.org BloggersChallenge.  Last year, the Challenge raised $500,000 and helped 75,000 kids in high-need public schools.  Which bloggers will raise the most and what projects will get funded is up to you!

About the Challenge

The BloggersChallenge lasts for all of October 2008, starting today (the 1st).  Over fifty bloggers have signed on to participate by creating their giving pages and adding classroom projects to get funded.  Technorati is sponsoring the “generosity rankings,” and FORTUNE is helping to spread the good word. Yahoo!, who will award the blog that mobilizes the most readers, recently announced that they will pay for a field trip for the kids at a school of the winning bloggers choice (up to $5,000). Six Apart will also award the bloggers who helps the most students (TBA)!

How you can get involved

• Link to or post the widget from the challenge your support!
• Leverage your network and support the classroom projects you like!
• Watch FORTUNE's Techland or the BloggersChallenge leaderboard for updates about the Challenge!
