The Hub at Kings Cross, in London, UK, is officially opening its doors today. Social innovators, entrepreneurs, collaborators, nonprofit organizations, and other social good types are already filling it up and taking advantage of the other Hub locations.
Hub Spaces
More and more, we see creative spaces for collaboration popping up. These alternative work environments are great for the self-employed or virtual office workers. The Hub offers an environment geared for those working on innovative approaches to social change to work with internet access, open plan and private meeting rooms, a cafe and bar, as well as staff making sure to connect people and groups to each other for maximum collaboration. The Hub is a membership space, but you don't have to be a member to attend an event taking place in one of the locations - such as Social Innovation Camp meet ups or lectures.
More Collaboration
The Hub isn't the only group looking to create collaborative work spaces for those working to make social change. CAN, a company creating buildings that house many different nonprofit organizations at reduced rates, offers an all-inclusive work place for nonprofit organizations including work areas, kitchens, meeting/board rooms, accessible locations and a community of social change.
As collaboration between organizations and programs becomes more important to funders and to project success, the need for communal offices grows. Are there places for collaboration in your city? Has your organization taken advantage of shared spaces to network and share ideas with other groups?
