Millennials & Change.org for SF Net Tuesday November

netsquaredGet ready for the next San Francisco Net Tuesday—it looks to be a great event!

Net Tuesdays are free monthly gatherings for social changemakers and web innovators to network, socialize and share ideas about how nonprofits and social benefit organizations can use the social web for social change.

SF Net Tuesday - November

DETAILS:

Date:  Tuesday, November 11th
Time:  6 pm
Location: TechSoup/CompuMentor

This month, SF will host Alex Steed of Millennials Changing America and Ben Rattray, founder and CEO of Change.org as their guests.

Alex will make a stop for Net Tuesday on the West Coast leg of his Millennials Changing America project, a research tour that seeks to paint a portrait of millennial activism as it exists today by traveling throughout the United States, talking with millennials of all backgrounds, ideals, upbringing, and political persuasions.

With the help of more than a few handfuls of friends along the way, and by posting audio, video, observations of, and interviews with millennial activists throughout the United States, we intend to explain our motives, share best practices, and tell our story from the road.

Ben will share the latest about Change.org, an online social action network. The website recently re-launched with new design, and the introduction of 12+ channels organized around major causes. Each of these causes is guided by an activist who will be writing about their topic of expertise - covering news and commentary, profiling innovative organizations, and highlighting ways you can make a difference. Some of the new channels include Global Warming, Women’s Rights, and Social Entrepreneurship.
