Last week Net2 Local organizers community participated in the very first Google + Hangout. Local innovators gathered to experiment with the (not so much) new Google tool.

Fundacja TechSoup, which I’m working at (Fundacja is a European hub for the TechSoup Global Network), is running a project that is to be developed in 10 new Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. The Project is funded by the Mott Foundation and serves as a great and challenging opportunity.

Last Saturday, I was honoured to participate in the Restart Romania Gala, the culminating event of the social justice challenge organized by TechSoup Romania in partnership with TechSoup Global and NetSquared. For us, it was the first regional challenge organized around locally specific issues and their citizen-powered solutions, so I was particularly excited to be present during the gala! On 21-22 of October the capital of Poland hosted the biggest Open Government Data (OGD) event in the world this year. It was organized by the Open Knowledge Foundation with the cooperation of Centrum Cyfrowe Projekt Polska (link Polish only). There were more than 250 people from 41 countries. You could talk to techies, members of transparency-oriented NGOs, journalists, social activists, government officials, EU Commission representatives and so on.

I'm very excited to work with a community of passionate, skilled and open group of people. My task of bringing the strong spirit of the Net2 Community to Central and Eastern Europe is challenging, but necessary to support a strong civil society in this part of the globe. I'm bringing a lot of ideas, but I will also listen carefully. I want to hear about your experiences and practices to try to move them wisely to CEE organizations. So any help is more than welcome.
