I was introduced to the Conversations Network this week as a place for nonprofits to distribute their audio content for free. Here is some info. about them from their site:
Has anyone ever used them before? The Conversations Network (a California non-profit corporation) captures presentations, processes the recordings, and publishes them online for free under Creative Commons licenses.
We offer two web-based services that share a common infrastructure:
• The first is a curated, magazine-style network of channels based on the already successful IT Conversations model. By the end of 2006, we'll have more than a dozen channels and we'll be publishing more than 60 programs each week.
• Second will be a grassroots service that accepts and publishes recordings of any event, anywhere in the world, on any topic. This will be supported by a database-driven service that matches spoken-word events around the world to available volunteer recording stringers. This service will launch in the second half of 2006.
