Grameen Foundation Looking for The New Media/Marketing Officer

New Media/Marketing Officer (Marketing Officer II)

Job Summary:
The new media marketing officer will be responsible for presenting the Grameen Foundation brand through a very dynamic, growing, interactive website and other new media. S/he will support organizational and product brand strategies and market positioning with a creative online engagement plan. S/he will provide a mix of strategic and tactical leadership, hands-on execution and be willing to take the initiative to continually advance the quality of Grameen Foundation’s online presence. The Marketing Department offers a rich, fast-paced team environment for an energetic, strategic, experienced, confident new media marketing professional.

Availability:
The New Media/Marketing Officer (Marketing Officer II) will be expected to work a typical work week of 37.5 hours plus additional hours as necessary to complete projects.

Essential Job Functions:

Strategy and management

• Developing and executing a bold, proactive online marketing strategy that delivers the GF brand effectively to a variety of audiences; identifying new web functionalities, technologies, and media for attracting and engaging new and current users
• Coordinating, maintaining, and ensuring a stable, well-designed, effective and up-to-date online presence and image including current content; monitoring and tracking of site resources; and reorganizing and creating new sections as needed
• Developing and executing a high quality search engine strategy, maximize effectiveness of Google ads, and maintaining effective landing pages
• Managing email marketing communications programs and campaigns including the bi-monthly enewsletter, periodic email alerts, joint projects with the development department, and stakeholder outreach campaigns
• Managing new media and interactive resources including photo galleries, video/multimedia resources, and interactive/dynamic features
• Developing and maintaining state-of-the art web metrics; presenting a monthly analysis of key metrics with strategies to enhance the online presence
• Providing consultation, create and/or manage new “sub-brand” websites for projects, products and other GF initiatives; developing and employing a consistent integration strategy.

Relationship Management
• Advising and assisting the development department to maximize online revenue.
• Consult new and existing GF programs, projects and departments as they deploy web sites; engage on GF’s behalf in social networking on sites such as FaceBook.com, Flickr.com, MySpace.com, Change.org, Orkut.com, etc., to create GF constituencies; and other new media projects.
• Facilitate internal review and feedback on the web site to ensure the site meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders
• Facilitate volunteer contributions to the development and management of the website and other new media, and online marketing as appropriate.
• Serving as a marketing “account executive” to in-house programs/initiatives/ departments (clients) to facilitate the flow of information, tasks, assignments, advice and counsel between the Marketing Department and several of our in-house clients.
Graphics and Publishing
• Designing email templates (HTML, plain text) for electronic marketing, communications and presentations
• Managing and maintaining the visual appearance of all online assets (stories, articles, etc.)
• Designing and creating graphics, photo images, dynamic banners, and other visual media for use on the website; maintain the GF electronic photo library
• Brand management in all aspects of online publishing, use of imagery, and graphics

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
General
• Creative, energetic, problem solving personality that seeks stimulating opportunities to apply well honed skills to exciting challenges.
• Work effectively in a team environment and independently; be a strong multitasker
• Experience and/or training in public relations, advertising, journalism a plus
• Experience and/or training in online publishing, email marketing, and online constituent relationship management tools.
• Good verbal communications skills, strong writing skills
• A strong attention to detail.
• Ability and willingness to adjust hours according to job demands

Technical
• Proficiency in HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, etc. and coding languages and server-side application functionality, specifically PHP and MySQL
• Database management experience helpful
• Familiarity with cross platform issues (browser and operating systems); basic web server administration; user interface design principles; content management systems; usability and accessibility issues, etc.
• Proficiency in Photoshop (or other professional imaging software) and optimization of graphics for the web; MS Office Suite
• Willing to stay abreast of professional standards, developments, advances and issues affecting online marketing and related disciplines.
Preferred
• Knowledge of microfinance, international development and/or humanitarian issues a plus
• Demonstrated interest/involvement in international development/affairs or social justice a plus

Education and Experience:
• B.S. with a concentration in web design, new media, online marketing, general marketing or other closely related topics.
• At least two years experience in the design, development, and maintenance of professional websites and/or online marketing/engagement
• Significant experience in the not-for-profit sector is a plus, not required

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
This position does not require unusual demands for physical effort. This position may occasionally require physical effort to lift and transport boxes weighing no more than 50 pounds.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of places such as offices, meeting or training rooms, residences, or commercial vehicles; e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations and traffic signals.
