Washington DC March 20th April 3rd 7PM (NEW DATE)
TOPIC UPDATE: "Pimp My Nonprofit" The group will participate in an interactive brainstorming session to help a nonprofit take their tech strategy and online communication efforts to the next level.
San Francisco March 13th 6 PM
Darian Hickman of the game, Village: Play the World of Social Enterprise, will be be sharing how Village started, where the project is now, and where they want to be by 2009. Fully developed, Village is a multiplayer real time strategy game that immerses the player into the role of a social entrepreneur building companies to bring prosperity to the villages of the developing world.
Reuters Digital Vision Program Fellow at Stanford University, Ken Banks of kiwanja.net, will be talking about the application of mobile technology in international conservation and development, and the need to consider the social and environmental conditions when designing and applying solutions in the developing world.
Houston March 13 20th, 7PM (NEW DATE)
Robert Brackenridge, Development Director at the Houston Technology Center will discuss his role in assisting early-stage technology companies at the HTC and touch on area tech workforce training and other HTC projects. They'll also take a look into the Houston technology scene and learn what they can do to help foster a greater sense of community and awareness among city-wide technology advocates.
Chicago March 13 6 PM (UPDATE: Cancelled. Rob Acton is unable to attend).
Rob Acton, CEO of Cabrini Green Legal Aid Clinic will talk about his experience in forming a group of nonprofit professionals who get together to discuss their challenges and triumphs. They have set up an online component for the group to facilitate information flow beyond their physical meetings.
Atlanta March 13 7 PM
This is their first meeting! They'll be discussing recent trends in the social web, social media, and how these trends are being leveraged for social change as well as how they can get Atlanta's non-profit community and Atlanta's emerging social media/tech community working together
