Listen to Featured Projects' "Moment of Inspiration"

One of the Featured Projects, Innovatorz, has been recording some of their fellow Featured Projects' stories about their "moment of inspiration."

You can hear stories from MAPLight, FamilyFarmed.org, HELP International Telemedicine Humanitarian Emergency Mobile Medical Clinic Network, Grassroots.org, Global Women's Leadership Network, Nabuur: The Global Neighbour Network and Kabissa.org here.

And the link is..

Many thanks go out to the innovatorz.org folks for organizing this nifty audioblog for us.

In case you're having trouble finding the link, it's hidden behind the word 'here'. :-)

I enjoyed participating in this experiment - though I have to say it's a little frightening to hear my voice uncut! And I missed some critical bits: I've told that story so many times, I can't believe I forgot to mention that Kabissa was dreamed up on the back of a napkin, literally, at a bar in Ikeja, Nigeria called "Goat Hunters".

Kim and I wrote down the story back in 2002 for the ICT Stories Competition, link here:

The most fun part is here:

On his last night in Ikeja, Lagos after the OMCT project was completed, Tobias sat in the "Goat hunters" Café with Innocent Chukwuma, the director of the Nigeria's Centre for Law Enforcement Education, and the two of them brainstormed on the implications of the lessons learned on this project. Innocent agreed with Tobias' assertion that organisations throughout Africa share very similar needs for affordable Internet services and training on how to use computers and the internet better. Together they laid out plans for establishing an entity called Kabissa which would aim to fill this gap.

Cheers,

Tobias
