The United Nations Climate Change Conference is happening in Bali December 3-14. The folks at Oxfam International wanted me to let you know that they are blogging from the Conference, as well as posting photos on Flickr and videos on YouTube.
In their December 4th post, Why is Oxfam at the UN Climate Change Conference?, they explained why they are there:
"Oxfam’s goal is to see an end to poverty and suffering, so how does that link to Climate Change? Developing countries and people living in poverty are being hit first and worst, by the impacts of climate change. They are losing their livelihoods and land to more frequent and severe floods, droughts and rising sea levels."
In today's post, It's bear o'clock at Bali, as Polar Bears Shout - Save the Humans Too, they posted photos and video of people dressed as polar bears holding signs that read, "Fight Climate Poverty." From the blog:
"[I]t isn’t only animals who are suffering from climate change. Many people from developing countries or poor communities also have to cope with changes in climate that impact their lands, livelihoods and lives."
I appreciate how Oxfam continues to use the triad of blogging, Flickr and YouTube to reach different audiences with it's messages, like it did with its Oxfam campaign.
