Net Tuesdays or Net2 Local gatherings provide a chance to connect locally with all those interested in the intersection of social technologies and social change. There are new groups forming every week: Join in!
I don't know about you, but I have a terrible time walking, communicating and getting dressed in Second Life. I often end up sitting on someone's lap at an event and I have to find an unpopulated place to change my clothes in case I end up standing around in my underwear while I figure out how to put things on.
If you're like me, you need to take the Second Life 101 course being offered by the Graduate School of Library and Information Science. I heard about it through the TechSoup Second Life Google Group.
There are three 4- week sections:
Section One: January 11, 18, 25 and February 1 from 7:30 - 9:30 am SL time
Section Two: March 7, 14, 21, 28 from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm SL time
Section Three: May 6, 13, 20, 27 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm SL time
And the course covers:
*Week One:* Welcome to your Second Life - Basic Skills
*Week Two:* Designing your Avatar
*Week Three:* Beyond the Basics - How to Shop, Purchase, Rent the Essentials
*Week Four:* All Dressed Up with Plenty of Places to Go!
