Teaching Young People with Blogs

Hat tip to my grandma for this one.  She sent me the article, "Blogging Teaches Write Stuff," from the Arizona Republic about a teacher from Cimarron Springs Elementary school who received a TeachersFirst Class Blogs Award from TeachersFirst.com for his use of blogs with young people.

I thought that readers involved with youth organizations might appreciate their online tutorial, Blog Basics for the Classroom.  They recommend Blogs2Teach, Class Blogmeister, Edublogs or Think.com as a "gated" (the teacher can control access and use) blogging tool.

Other cool TeachersFirst recommendations:

* Daily Lesson Plan from the NYTimes:
"Hot Off the Web: Creating Blogs to Explore Current Events."
* MAKE blog posts as real world examples for science lessons.
* Flickr to create a collection of images students can use for projects.
* More . . .

Thanks Britt.  This is a great connection with good, timely info for two projects!
