It takes about 18 seconds to replace a conventional incandescent bulb with a
CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light) bulb. According to
18Seconds.org, "If every American swapped just ONE bulb for an ENERGY STAR labeled CFL, it would collectively save more than $8 billion in energy costs, prevent burning 30 billion pounds of coal, and remove 2 million cars worth of greenhouse gas emissions from our atmosphere."
Yahoo!, as part of the 18 Seconds Coalition, has helped to build the
18Seconds web site and badge (pictured here) that you can put on your web site or blog. The badge tracks the number of energy-efficient light bulbs being sold in the U.S., your city or your state. If you would like to create a badge, click
