Last May, we announced the winners of the N2Y4 Mobile Challenge which called for innovative mobile applications supporting social good. One of those winners was Mobile Voices, a platform for immigrant workers in Los Angeles to create stories about their lives and communities directly from cell phones. We've been keeping up to date on their progress and wanted to share an update with you!

Mobile Voices on PBS and Mobile Active

Mobile Voices, as well as the team and strategy behind the project, was highlighted in a two-part feature on PBS's Idea Lab and cross-posted on Mobile Active. The article focuses on the challenges of implementing a citizen media platform with marginalized populations and is an in-depth and informed behind-the-scenes discussion.

• Part Two covers story telling, the Mobile Voices audience, and delves into what worked well and what needs improving.

Sasha Constanza-Chock becomes a Berkman Fellow

Sasha Constanza-Chock, one of the developers of the Mobile Voices project, has also recently been named a Berkman Fellow at Harvard University. There, he will will work on research, tools, and strategy to advance media justice and communication rights.
