I have been thinking alot lately about how tagging and social bookmarking can be used in the nonprofit sector. The one thing that I thought of right away was using tags to organize content better. That means use tags that will help you find content better.
How can you use tags?
These are just a few ways you can use tags. What other ways can you think of?

The need for more tagging
Emily brings up a good topic when she asks "What other ways can you think of (to use tagging)?". If you think of NetSquared as an attempt to create a Tipping Point in the use of Web 2.0 technologies by nonprofits then it is easy to see that it is critical that we are all actually using the technology ourselves for our nonprofit/philanthropy related interests.
A quick check on Del.icio.us shows that the tag "nonprofit" has been used 8,182 times and "philanthropy" 586 times (of which 31 are mine meaning I have a 5.2% share which is ridiculous). "Music" on the other hand shows up 362,215 times and "video" 214,408.
My experience with nonprofits shows that many of the smaller ones know very little about the sophisticated giving techniques available to their major donors. There is also very little centralized sources of info on Charitable Trusts, Gift Annuities and private foundations. If people in the know could tag more good pages that cover these topics they could help nonprofits find the information they need to close more large legacy gifts.
Great points Sean!
Great points Sean! I am wondering if you have questions or more reactions to the pre-conference discussion about tagging and nonprofits over here.
