Post-NetSquared, Summer's been lots of fun at Green Map as our team grew. By the end of July, we completed Phase 1, and opened the http://OpenGreenMap.org website to our network of locally-led Green Map projects. In the few days since, the first 35 maps are being charted and about 1000 sites have been charted. We've got lots to accomplish before the public launch this fall, but as you can see from the slideshow we have linked here: http://OpenGreenMap.org/files/Open_Green_Map_intro6-08.pdf - our plans include an iPhone App for exploring the Open Green Maps and adding new sites on the go. We have had a terrific trainee from Finland, Miikka, who will soon return to school at Turku's University of Applied Sciences.
Miikka will take on the iPhone App for his senior project. We are seeking a shorter than normal service contract. Do you know a good way to get a cheap iPhone for a non-profit? This Blog post: http://GreenMap.org/greenhouse/en/node/4559 has more details and a picture of our crew, with Miikka in front.
