Net Tuesdays or Net2 Local gatherings provide a chance to connect locally with all those interested in the intersection of social technologies and social change. There are new groups forming every week: Join in!
We are working on a redesign of the NetSquared platform. With feedback from the Community and even from ourselves, we have put together a big list of wishes and needs. After some great redesign mockups, we are inviting the Community back into the conversation to help us continue the process. (Learn more about the redesign here, or check out ideas for the homepage.) Today, we're focusing in on the Challenge Gallery!
The Challenge Gallery (current version here) is a one-page collection of all open-for-submission and open-for-voting challenges that are currently happening on NetSquared.

Let's start off with some stats. To date, more than 5,000 NetSquared community members have reviewed more than 600 projects entered in 7 competitions and distributed more than $370,000 in cash and prizes. Pretty amazing stuff. We've been listening to your feedback about each step of this process - submitting projects, reviewing the open challenges, exploring the project gallery, and voting - and have mock-ups of the next generation of the Challenge Gallery to share (more on submission, the global project gallery, and voting soon).
We've replaced the text links and chart with clean blocks that include the challenge's or sponsor's logo above bullets of the key information about each challenge: dates, prizes, and (when appropriate) the affiliated conference. This gallery allows you to then explore more about how the challenge itself is set up or jump right into the gallery and start reviewing entries. On the left, a new sidebar block provides easy links to enter a new project into the gallery, enter your project into a specific competition, create a challenge, or jump to a similarly formatted conference gallery.
We've also moved all of the eligibility and rules information off of this page and into the home for each respective challenge, dramatically shrinking both the size and amount of information on this page. We think that this cleaner, more to-the-point Challenge Gallery is a major improvement.
We are approaching our redesign in a Community-driven way because we recognize that you are the ones who use, read, and play on the site. We are anxious to hear your thoughts about this Challenge Gallery re-design idea!
And another big thanks to Matthew Wilse at TheCoup for these initial redesign mockups!
Implementing a redesign like this will require some funds we currently don't have. If you are interested in contributing to the redesign, please contact the NetSquared Director, Billy Bicket, at bbicket@techsoup.org
