Probably one of the last institutions to embrace the web are churches. While the larger congregations aren't jumping on the bandwagon yet, several independent Christian churches are. I spoke to a local pastor who stated that their web presence has brought in several new members to the flock. Could this be the wave of the future? Time will tell.

There is quite a range ...
There is quite a range - a lot like very small nonprofits. Some plunge in head first, and are doing a lot with the web, and others have lagged behind. I've learned that the same dynamics that are true for small nonprofits, like who is available to help the staff, what tech-savvy volunteers are around, is true for churches. Like small nonprofits, most churches don't have the money to spend on technology, and must depend on volunteers, for the most part.
