I'm ashamed to admit it, but I didn’t actually watch all the movies released in 2006 before choosing my Top 10. Doubly ashamed to say that I’m not going to be able to study all 150+ nominees before casting my vote for the Tech Innovation Awards. Instead, I’m going to do as I did with the movies – see what the experts have to say, then go see Borat anyway.
I went through all the blog entries tagged “Slate” to date, cross-referenced all the authors against the list of N2Y2 Advocates (the Tech equivalent of Ebert & Roper, only better), then put their choices into the table linked above. If you’re an N2Y2 Advocate and I missed your blog entry, or if you just posted or updated one, please link to your post in reply to this note, so I can update my table. I suspect that NetSquared believes that the opinions of amateurs like me are just as good as yours (those Communists!), but you’ve been around this block a number of times, and I’d personally give your opinion a little more weight over mine.
Thanks; Leo

Final update
Posted my final update, reflecting Daniel Ben-Horin's V2 slate, as of 6AM 4/16. Won't have internet access until tonight; best of luck to all.
Intriguing Analysis!
Leo,
Great work -- thanks for this cool view into the data. Five experts cast 40 votes for 36 different projects. Looks like it's going to be difficult for the advocates to come to an agreement.
Reading the blog posts, it seems that people tend to vote according to how valuable they feel the mission of an organization is or how much potential they think an idea has. I think they ought to be considering how they can take a project on the verge of greatness and push it over the edge. That is what will separate material benefit from wishful thinking.

Re Intriguing Analysis!
Thanks Eamon. OCD has its benefits.
I agree with you and Michael that track record should be a factor - to separate the dreamers from the doers. Haven't thought through how to word it, but I think this should be listed as one of the attributes in the Project Guidelines.
Eamon and Leo what did you think of Buttons of Hope?
michael gibbons
Leo and Eamon, just curious -- did you have a chance to read my proposal? I've been a little bummed -- buttons of hope is not getting the attention I had expected from the "pros" -- there is a long comment from a person I am working with at the Memory Walks that really sums up the promise of BOH -- I would appreciate your feedback if you have a few minutes -- since I am "doing this" whether I win or not!
Done
Posted my feeback here, Michael. Wish you the best; Leo
no buzz?
michael gibbons buttons of hope
Leo whoa...thanks for the credit but Buttons of Hope "making a profit" -- far, far from that I am afraid -- I have donated hundreds of buttons -- going to be a while before I reach even my modest profit goal. And as to your commenst -- this is exactly why I entered this contest -- I need help developing the "Hopepond" Community page and blurbs, stories if you will! N2 will help me get to the next level!
My idea is sound, dynamic and unique -- but I need to learn to tap into the social web -- I think my idea is one that can aid and support many of the N2 projects -- all of these wonderful causes can benefit from personalizing the cause -- putting a face on it is as you said a powerful way to do that -- starts conversations, bridges gaps between donors and people in need and makes the world a smaller place!
To become passionate, fervent people (volunteers, donors etc) need to feel they can make a difference to bring the cause down to an individual scale -- many people making small differences amount to changes of unimaginable scope!
Guess I was looking for a reason or two as to why my project is not getting buzz -- thoughts on that? Constructive candid thoughts appreciated!
Not about the coolest idea...
michael gibbons buttons of hope
Eamon I think you make a good point -- the idea(project) needs to be innovative, yes -- yet it also needs to be implementable and sustainable -- some of the projects I read are amazing ideas -- full of passion and promise -- don't want to be a wet blanket -- but many as they stand are more likely dreams -- beautiful dreams to be sure!!
But I agree with you -- take some of the projects (passion and promise too) that are close and need some further development, expertise and/or capital and make them a reality NOW! My honest opinion I think many of the most promising projects need another 6 or 12 months of founder sweat -- I have been working on Buttons of Hope for two years + -- have my website up and running -- NOW I know what I need NOW! To me this is a contest but I see the the N2 conference more like a workshop -- for me N2 would take Buttons of Hope a proven concept to the next level
...my two cents!
Ah ..what about the experts who posted their slates
off netsquared?
Re What about the experts who posted their slates off netsquared
Hi Beth - I'll be happy to add them to the table, as long as they're on the N2Y2 Advocates list (to apply a consistent criterion, and so that it's not me who's making judgments as to their expertise). If you could link to their slates from this thread, that will be a huge help. Thanks! Leo
