For the conference, I think we should put together some hands-on workshops. Maybe we could call this "Take some Web2.0 home with you" or "Net2Go".
The goal is that the participants go home with hardware/software/training so that they are already set up to use a new technology. Examples:
* video recording, broadcasting, like what Drazen Pantic did.
* audio recording, broadcasting, hosting, like we're doing for NetTuesday
* linux installations - install linux on top of windows computers, so that they are dually bootable. Allows people to experience linux
* do a map mashup
* set up a news/blog aggregator on a site
* set up a flickr aggregator on a site
* set up an RSS feed from a site
* build badges for a site
This could be a major component of day 2 of the conference.

I'd find it really useful...
I keep hearing about all kinds of technologies I'd love to have someone try to walk me through. This would be very useful for me to figure out how to improve Interplast's blog without having to dig around the internet for hours on end.

CivicSpace to Go...
In playing with CivicSpace recently, I got an entire working CivicSpace installation (AMP+civicspace) on a USB flash drive. Click once to configure and you can use CivicSpace on your windows box and move the installation from box to box. If somone could contribute the flash drives (probably 128m, but we might be able to squeeze into a 64m), then we could send people home with complete working CivicSpace installs that they configured to their personal needs during a session.
As an NTAP, I'm not sure that it's particularly useful, but it certainly would be cool.
