finished.

Someone beat me over the head with the sleepy stick today.  This has felt kind of like a self-portrait in four parts, by the way.  But we're almost done. The last two choices come out today. No more ado:

Freecycle.org

I've been on the local freecycle list for a while now.  What a great concept.  Let's take it from the top.  I remember back in high school when recycling first started hitting the streets around these parts, there was a great slogan:  Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. I still remember that.  Strangely, I also remember my Senior English teacher asking the guys (only) to move forward from the wall: per Mr. L., when girls are jolted awake they simply open their eyes, whereas guys violently jerk their heads back resulting in an unfortunate meeting of skull and brick wall.  But I digress.  I know you recycle.  But, honestly: do you reduce? reuse? Really, now!

Freecycle focuses on the Reuse bit.  Even better, a lot of the stuff that show up on the freecycle lists are things that are not readily recycled. So get their list and start reusing, and while you're at it make an honest effort to reduce.  And vote for them.

The CTC VISTA project

So you say you have full funding to hire all the staff you could ever need and could not benefit from some very talented, very energetic volunteers?  Stop reading this, and go back to your Financial Times.  The rest of us have a great resource in the CTC VISTA project. AmeriCorps volunteers helping out right here in our own area.  I was lucky enough to meet some of the current group at the NTEN conference this month.  What a great group of people!  Every one of them is full of energy and ready to go!  What else can I say about this? It speaks for itself.  All it needs now is one more vote: yours.

So, there you have it.  I'm spent.
