Building community in your area? Check out the Community Organizers Handbook. Includes everything you need to start and grow a NetSquared Local group or any other community-powered program.
Using social media is such an important way to let people know about who you are. Some of the key things I have learned at UniversalGiving is to tell a personal story, for example, on Twitter. I speak about my volunteering revelations at a very young age, in the hopes that it will help others examine their lives and service.
So the first point, posting and twittering should not always be about offers discounts, or strict promotion of your organization. Try to find something of interest to users, and keep them engaged with thoughtful, authentic posts.
Second, be sure to follow others. It's a two-way street of learning, community and caring.
In that way Social Media can be used in a way that grows your organization's awareness in a very natural manner.
Sincerely,
Pamela Hawley
