NetSquared teaming up with Sun Microsystems to produce global Hack Days. Sao Paolo, Brazil was a success on October 1, stay tuned for an update. Next up, China!
What a amazing list of ideas and projects! The more I read this, the more I feel - so much more to be done. Can't resist quoting a line from a Bengali poet, Rabindranath Tagore (who was also a Noble Laureate back in 1913) - "The root of wealth or poverty lies in the ends we have in mind, not in the means to those ends. If the hand is ready then finding the instrument of action should not be difficult". Are we looking for those instruments of action?
The organizers were open minded, so they kept everything open. You decide your own methodologies of selection. Therefore it was our onus to define a criteria and to judge the projects on the basis of that criteria.
Anyway, because of my background of living & working in the developing countries and my involvement with ICT for development, I choose to search the projects on the basis of 'Strategy and Goal', which obviously gave me another sub-set of themes. I thought 'grassroots mobilization and activation' and 'issue awareness' are something that is close to my heart and to my expertise too. So my journey begins searching the projects from that end.
BTW, I just got to know that the voting date has been extended until next Monday. Thanks to the organizers for this timely thinking. If I couldn't give enough time reading the list of projects that I have here now, I would have done an injustice to them. Anyway, here I'd like to write a line or two about the projects that I selected..So keep an eye, I may have gone to the background to bring those up, but didn't disappear. So much more to be done!
