Hi Net2, I just sent the first screenshot to the developer working on "A Mashup of 29+ Social Action Platforms". We have built a Ruby on Rails database that parses RSS feeds from social action platforms. The plan is to also create an open API for any third party application to use when building their own mashups of peer-to-peer social change campaigns. Very exciting.
Above is a screenshot of the search form and the format of how we'll probably display the results.
- The "map" button will produce a google map that displays the matching peer-to-peer social change campaigns for which location information is known.
- The "tag" button will display the relative importance of descriptive tags that correspond with the matching campaigns
- The "random" button will send a user to the top rated campaign for the search query
- The "types of actions" dropdown will include: fundraiser, affinity group, petition, pledge, volunteer, and offline meetup
In the final days before voting begins, Cameron and I are turning to the front end of the initial social actions mashup. We want to create a working exmaple of how the content from 29+ social actin platforms can be brought together to create a useful mashup for social change.
I'm very excited about the direction all this is headed. Please post your comments below.
And if you like the project, please give it a star.
