A Guide to ChipIn 2.0

Here's a link to my latest article on the emerging field of group fundraising. I have written up a profile of ChipIn, Inc., a web 2.0 company based in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The new features and web widget on ChipIn 2.0 are really amazing. This company is definitely leading the industry with respect to the financial implications of social networking.
Here's an excerpt from my article entitled, "ChipIn Version 2.0: A Guide to the New Features and Web Widget":

"Chipping in" with the new platform is as easy and fast as throwing change into a hat. Moreover, donors can give to a ChipIn campaign using internationally recognized credits cards from over 60 countries.
In addition the streamlined donation and payment process, ChipIn 2.0 comes with advanced tools for personal blogging and a snazzy "web widget." Campaign organizers are able upload text, pictures, and video clips to the homepage of their ChipIn campaign. Anyone is free to download these materials as well as a web widget that displays a Flash barometer of progress made toward a fundraising goal. The widget can then be placed on other websites and blogs.
Wikipedia defines a web widget as a small piece of code that can be easily embedded on any website or blog in order to deliver interactive features without advanced technical knowledge. The features in ChipIn’s web widget are so unique that the company’s founders have applied for a U.S. patent.

Good to hear Chipin is continuing to move forward
I wrote a post that included a little info. about Chipin last summer, ilncluding a link to an interview Beth Kanter did with Carnet Williams, Chipin's CEO.
Seems like it would be a cool thing for bloggers to install on their blog during the holidays to collect donations for their fav nonprofit or NGO.

Hey Britt, I totally agree. I think we'll see a lot of innovative uses of ChipIn, and other group fundraising platforms, during the holiday season 2006.
I've got a campaign up and running to sponsor a Cambodian
woman for college. In the few days it has been up, have made $260 so far!
