  • san francisco approach: start with low income and then wire the rest of the system
  • if you solve problem for those who are most vulnerable, you solve it for everybody
  • e.g. ramps in sidewalks are there for handicapped but work for strollers
  • standards and mechnisms for data sharing - open data !
  • lead with social agenda not tech, lead with apirations for people!
  • you can't achieve a just society without hard work, just like anything tough that you want to do
  • who to partner with, who to learn from, what infrastructure to build
  • need modern vision (world is changing, nuanced sense of democracy)
  • have to be courageous enough to go to places where they are not comfortable
  • it's essential, not an afterthought
  • fully inclusive agenda including technology

  • we want people in the end to be agents for change on their own behalf
