Hi! I'm Seth Mazow, communications and technology coordinator for Interplast, the first international humanitarian organization to provide free reconstructive surgery in developing countries. My job is to raise awareness about our work to the Interplast community and the world at large, as well as to troubleshoot in-house technical problems ("Seth, my emails aren't going through!!!"). While not a techie by training, I have tried to adapt to my "obvious techie since he's the youngest person on staff" role.
I'm always on the lookout for emerging tools and technologies that make me more efficient at my job. Whether it be photo sharing, podcasting, chatting, video-sharing, RSS or blogging, my goal is to make Interplast communicate effectively to the widest body of people with the least amount of time/money/effort/hair-pulling. For me, technology is a means to an end, not an end itself.
I have learned a lot from previous interactions with Net2, and I'm excited about this conference because I can interact with other NGOs to see what lessons they've learned. We've had our share of successes and failures, so I'd love to swap stories with others who are also trying to wrap their heads around this confusing and exciting new world.
