Ning has gone a long way since they were featured on the Netsquared blog back in March 2007. Besides offering many more features than they had back then, there are now more than 500,000 social networks on Ning.
We recently got interviewed by the folks at Ning along with the folks from the ASPCA Online Community about our use of their platform in TuDiabetes.com and EsTuDiabetes.com to run our social networks for people touched by diabetes.
They just posted the interview today and I wanted to share it with everyone here, as I strongly feel that Ning offers a great balance between affordability and effectiveness when it comes down to empowering nonprofits to run their own social network.
On a related side note, I thought I'd share some very cool news: I have started writing a book titled Ning For Dummies (from the "For Dummies" series), which should be coming out next Spring. It should be a great resource to help you through setting up and running your network at Ning, but honestly Ning is SO easy to use, you should give it a shot right away!
Disclaimer: I used to work for Ning between January 2008 and April 2008, but I have been a Ning network creator since March 2007. The video I am including as a reference below is from the time I worked with them.
