Involver: How Nonprofits Can Create Video Campaigns for Social Networks.
So we've created a widget for the GreenerOne site that will allow a member to display how many people they've helped make a green decision while shopping for a product.
We mashuped a few technologies to make this happen. The widget is a dynamic image (PNG) generated from a image library to display how many people you've assisted with your reviews.
We're using widgetbox.com to allow members to create the widget and embed on their personal website or favorite social networking site. The app still needs polishing on facebook, but works on pretty much an platform that allows a user to include an image an a hyperlink, even your email client!
Here's an example:
To create your own widget,
1. Register for an account at greenerone.com.
2. Then when looking at your profile, catch the number at the end of your url, for instance, I'm '218' from this url: http://greenerone.com/profile/218
3. Enter that number into this widget on widgetbox: http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/greenerone
4. Embed on your favorite sites.
Alternativly, you can add the widget to sites that don't support javascript using this simple API:
1. Embed this image: http://greenerone.com/widget/<USER-ID>
2. Link to this URL: http://greenerone.com/profile/<USER-ID>
