Stuart Gannes & Karen Coppeck of Digital Vision Support NetSquared

The roster of NetSquared Advocates continues to grow and diversify, & we're proud to welcome two new supporters: Stuart Gannes & Karen Coppeck of Stanford's Digital Vision Program

In early 2002 Gannes was recruited by Stanford University as the inaugural Director of the Digital Vision Program at the Center for the Study of Language and Information (CSLI). Over the past two and a half years the DV program has evolved from an independent fellowship experience to an integrated prototyping course that focuses on technology innovation and social entrepreneurship. The goal is to support the design and concept-testing and sustainability modeling of technology solutions that address humanitarian needs in the developing world. READ MORE

Look who's popular

When I opened up my custom Google home page this morning I noticed that one of the most popular del.icio.us links for today was a guide to creating a block hover effect for a list of links. This sounded cool -- basically, a neater-looking alternative to links that simply change colour when you mouse over them -- so I checked it out.

And what does this popular page turn out to be? A tribute to the brilliant work that NetSquared's designer, Veerle Pieters, has done in redesigning her own blog. So brilliant, in fact, that somebody went to the trouble of documenting exactly how she accomplished her link rollover effect. READ MORE

Video Profile: Yoz Grahame

During MashupCamp, Yoz Grahame, of MySociety.org and Ning, demos a few projects he's helped build including WriteToThem and PledgeBank. WriteToThem empowers citizens in the UK to hold their elected officials accountable while PledgeBank is a resource for creating and pledging support for any idea, if enough people also support that idea. Yoz explains while giving a demo.

When and why to wiki: an interview with Adam Frey of Wikispaces

Adam Frey is one of the founders of Wikispaces.com, a popular hosted wiki service. A wiki is a web site that any authorized user can edit, where all previous versions of the site are visible and notification can be receieved whenever a change is made. 

Wikispaces hosts wikis for a wide variety of communities and offers free premium hosting for K-12 educators.  In the following interview Adam and I discussed his thoughts on optimal use and selection of a wiki. READ MORE
