More Net2 in Action

A bunch of new case studies went up over the weekend:

Marshall Kirkpartrick put up H2otown, a community blog by and for the residents of Watertown, MA  (they are our Nonprofit Innovator of the Week as well).

Arnau, who posted a nice introductory message today, put up Rural Innovation Network, an innovation network for rural India.

He also put up Inveneo, they combine VoIP, Wimax, cheap components, energy consumption reduction and free-software.

Emily Weinberg put up Stateline.org, a project of the Pew Research Center which has 63 RSS feeds that users can subscribe to. READ MORE

Hi! I'm Arnau, from Barcelona (Spain). I've just landed here this afternoon and yet wandering and a bit lost.

Keep your operations in a tent

I want to recommend reading Greg Olsen's post on his Charter Street blog titled "Going Bedouin." It's about keeping enterprises nimble by organizing with agile teams, agile information systems, and an agile work environment. Minimalist but effective.

It seems to me a lot of the message NetSquared is communicating is around similar principles of the social web. Read the post and think about applications for activist teams.  READ MORE

Large scale change, training, volunteerism and software: an interview with Jesse Salinas

Jesse Salinas is the Director of Technology at the Atlanta, Georgia based Hands on Network, an organization that helps 55 affiliate organizations around the US recruit and manage volunteers. The Network facilitates a staggering number of volunteer projects each year.  Integral to their work is a commitment to helping train volunteer managers to maximize the meaning, accessibility and impact of the volunteering experience.

Salinas and the Hands on Network have developed a web based software suite and educational curriculum that their affiliate organizations use to achieve these goals. We talked about the Network's approach to volunteer manager training, the lessons Jesse learned in developing that software suite and the process his organization has developed for training new and non-technical end users.
