Q: How much money will winners receive?
A: First place will receive $15,000, second place will receive $10,000, and third place will receive $5,000.

Q: How will winners be selected?
A: The NetSquared Community will vote on the top 10 finalists, all of whom will be invited to present their Projects at the conference, "The Soul of the New Machine: Human Rights, Technology, and New Media," to be held May 4 and 5 on the UC Berkeley campus. Three award winners will be chosen by a panel of judges and announced at the conference. Please see Judging Criteria for details.

Q: How is "Human Rights" defined in the context of this Challenge?
A: "Human rights" is defined as the basic rights and freedoms to which all humans are entitled. Articulated in documents such as the Geneva Conventions and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, examples include civil and political rights, such as the right to life and liberty, freedom of expression, and equality before the law; and social, cultural and economic rights, including the right to participate in culture, the right to food, the right to work, and the right to education.

Q: What are the elgibility rules?
A: There are only a few. Check out the Rules and Guidelines.

Q: Can non-U.S. citizens and organizations participate?
A: Yes, of course!

Q: Can I re-submit a Project for this Challenge that has been submitted to a previous Challenge?
A: Yes, as long as your Project is applicable to mobile technology/human rights and meets all other published guidelines.

Q: How do I re-submit a Project to this Challenge?
A: Be sure to "Edit" your Project for relevancy AND click the "HRC-UCB" Prize Tag on the Submission Form.

Q: What will happen to my published Project if I do not win the UC Berkeley Human Rights Mobile Challenge?
A: Your Project will remain in the Global Project Gallery to be eligible for additional upcoming Challenges unless you choose to delete the submission. We encourage you to keep your Project updated via the edit tab.
