Although many human rights advocates are successfully using the web to achieve their organizational goals, few of them put the emphasis on video documentation, which is considerably more difficult to produce, distribute, and view than text and still images.  Digital video advocacy has the potential to become an important extension of the citizen journalism movement, but requires a new level of technical skill and sophistication about intellectual property.  Unlike organizations that support human rights campaigns in specific regions or or about specific issues, Witness is developing expertise in centered in a particular medium that has the power to tell an unlimited range of stories.
