Building community in your area? Check out the newly-launched Community Organizers Handbook! Everything you need to start and grow a NetSquared Local group or any other community-powered program.
The idea of this project was proposed at Technology for the Nonprofit and Philanthropic Sector in August 2005.
Emily, a recent college graduate trying to enter the nonprofit technology world, volunteered to take charge of this project.
Nonprofit Bloggers connect with each other through blog exchanges. Bloggers have to signup for each exchange, and then the blogger is given a nonprofit blog to write about in their blog.
The goals of this project is to not only hold blog exchanges, but to help nonprofit bloggers promote their blogs and see how nonprofit blogs are in the blogosphere.
Emily setup a blog for this project, which is the project's website. She created a public bloglines account and subscribed to each blog that signed up for the exchange. A blogroll, which is from this account, is posted on the blog.
Emily also used her del.icio.us account and bookmarked each blog that signed up for the exchange. Each blog is tagged with nonprofitblogexchange. This allows people to subscribe to the rss feed to see what new blogs are added to exhange.
This is also one way to help these bloggers promote their blog.
Each participant of the exchange is encouraged to tag their blog exchange entries with the tag npblogexchange.
