Food Museum Blog

Supporting organization:
The FOOD Museum
URL:
foodmuseum.typepad.com/
Project Description:

"This is the official weblog of The FOOD Museum, a non-profit organization. This blog will serve as an interactive forum for news, views and discussion about all things food: food history; growing; marketing, cooking; issues such as food safety, school lunch reform, GMO foods; diet/nutrition and just plain fun. Be sure to visit The FOOD Museum at www.foodmuseum.com.

With the stated goals laid out at the very begining this blog provides an effective space for interested users to comment on posts and share. Interestingly, this would have been a function served by a discussion board in the recent past. In looking at the use of blogging tools to encourage discussion and exchange there is one immediate advantage to seeding and growing conversations in that the primary author(s) provide a clear focus, through blog posts, for discussion to grow out of. The nature of responding to a blog post feels different than that of responding on a discussion board, some of the wide open latitude is restricted, which seems to lead to a tighter focus.

This is a hosted blog residing at typepad and is a supplement to the main FOOD Musuem web site.

The FOOD Museum blog has succeeded in creating a conversation space, as evidenced by the comments one finds attached to blog postings.

Points of interest:

The FOOD Museum blog has created an effective space for interested users to interact in. It provides an example for others looking to use a hosted blog as an adjunct to an existing web site to engage their users.
